A Cohabitation Agreement is an agreement between people who live together but wish to set out certain understandings, such as who owns what shares in a property, who will pay the bills and issues relating to children. The agreement can cover any issue that is important to you and can regulate how your affairs are dealt with during your relationship as well as provide a contingency plan should your relationship come to an end.
Cohabitation Agreements are not legally binding. However, a court is more likely to uphold the agreement in the event of a dispute where the agreement is properly drawn up, the terms are reasonable and each party has had separate, independent legal advice on its effect.
If a dispute does arise we can assist, either if there is no agreement in place or to enforce an agreement.
