Richard has specialised in Criminal Defence for approximately 20 years in private practice and has spent the majority of his Professional career in Wiltshire and Swindon.
He is able to represent clients during interview from the Police Station right the way through to the Magistrates’ Court, Crown Court and Court of Appeal, as appropriate.
Richard always attempts to dispense realistic advice upon the evidence and has a conscientious attitude with the ultimate aim to try to achieve the best result in each case.
He has represented and helped clients to defend many different prosecutions including a diverse range of offences including but not confined to Road Traffic, Homicide, Violent Offences, Burglary, Drug offences and historic and recent Sexual Offences. Richard has also defended in Serious Crime prosecuted by the Serious Organised Crime Agency (now the National Crime Agency) and other Agencies and Regulatory Offences.
As a higher Court Advocate he regularly appears in various Crown Courts to defend including jury trials and has successfully appeared in the Court of Appeal.
Richard has also appeared as Prosecutor for various agencies including the DWP and Environment Agency so has seen matters from the prosecution perspective. He regularly represents defence solicitors at Court Users groups and also served as a member of the Wiltshire Criminal Justice Board. Richard is most often seen in Swindon Courts representing clients from North Wiltshire.
