The Armed Forces use administrative action to enforce the rules, values and standards expected of military personnel. Whether or not an individual falls short of the expected standard is assessed by the Service Test:
‘Have the actions or behaviour of a Service person adversely impacted or are they likely to impact on the efficiency or operational effectiveness of the Service?’
In effect, therefore, administrative action is the term used for employment law in the military, designed to correct professional or personal failings. An AGAI (Army General Administrative Instruction) can lead to anything from minor administrative action through to removal from the Armed Forces.
If you are notified that you face administrative action then you should seek specialist advice straight away. At RG&Co our approachable, experienced team can advise you in plain English on the process, the potential outcomes and what steps you can take to respond.
