If Social Services become sufficiently concerned about the welfare of your child/children (they may have already been involved for some time or they may have just become involved) and they believe that the child/children are at risk of harm they will send you a Pre-proceedings letter. This letter is important, as it lists the concerns that Social Services have about your child/children. The letter will advise you to seek legal advice and invite you to a Pre-proceedings meeting. Once you receive that letter it is extremely important that you contact us straight away so that we can come along to the initial meeting and any meetings thereafter to support you.
Once you have received the Pre-proceedings letter you will be entitled to free Legal Aid, which will enable a solicitor to advise and assist you throughout the Pre-proceedings stage and to attend the Pre-proceedings meetings with you.
